Route via Mathyolweni Gate Addo Elephant National Park

There are two wonderful scenic routes to Chrislin via the Addo Elephant National Park. We have included the scenic route from Port Elizabeth airport that takes you into the Addo park at the Mathyolweni Gate.

We’ve also posted the other suggested routes, including the most direct and another option through the Addo park. We would love to find out your suggested route to our Addo Lodge. Please post your suggestions on our Chrislin Facebook page.

Travel Route via Mathyolweni Gate Addo Elephant Park

This suggested route is at least 100 kilometres or 62 miles. It can take anything from 2 hours to a full day, depending on how long you spend in the Addo Elephant Park. It includes paying the day entry fee to the Addo Elephant National Park when entering at the Mathyolweni or southern gate.

The route starts in Port Elizabeth and follows the coast on the N2 north to Colchester. Shortly after crossing the Sunday’s River in the hamlet of Colchester turn left onto the road signed for the Addo Elephant National Park Mathyolweni gate. Turn right to the gate and stop to pay the fees at the reception.

Use the Addo map given to you to enjoy a day of game viewing in the Big 5 Addo Elephant National Park. The elephant and other wildlife sightings are spectacular and there are many picnic sites and view points to enjoy.

Exit Addo Elephant Park at the Main Gate

Follow the Addo park map and signs and exit at the Addo Park Main Gate. Once you have left the park turn left onto the R342 towards Addo village. This road becomes the R335.

Just before the village of Addo turn right onto the R336 and then left again onto the untarred road signed to Chrislin Lodge.
