Driving yourselves to a new destination, in a foreign country, with no local knowledge of the area can be daunting! Especially as you may be driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road too!
We have included the shortest and most direct self-drive travel route from Port Elizabeth to Chrislin in this blog. We’ll be posting other suggested routes and would love to find out your suggested route to our Addo Lodge. Please post your suggestions on our Chrislin Facebook page.
Direct Self-Drive Route: Port Elizabeth to Chrislin Lodge
The most direct and shortest route from Port Elizabeth to Chrislin Lodge takes approximately one hour to drive and is a distance of just over 60 kilometres or 37 miles.
The route follows the coast on the N2 north towards Grahamstown before turning inland onto the R335 to Addo. Shortly after turning onto the R335 the road passes a large informal settlement called Motherwell. We do not recommend that you stop in this area.
After Motherwell you will drive through largely open grassland and low bush before reaching the Sunday’s River valley and Addo village.
Shortly after Addo village you will turn left onto the R336 and then left again onto the untarred road signed to Chrislin Lodge.
